The United Kingdom is located between the Atlantic Ocean, Irish Sea and the North Sea. The UK is a set of islands north west of France and is considered part of Europe. Four countries are considered part of the UK; Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England. The Irish Sea separates Scotland, England, and Wales from Northern Ireland. Only the English Channel and 35km separate the UK from France. The total area of the UK is 243,610 sq km, with only one bordering country (Ireland 360km borderline). The total area of the UK would cover 3% of the United States; close to the size of Oregon. The UK has several hundred rivers, but a few of the major ones are the Thames, Avon, and the Trent rivers. The Loch Ness is also in the UK in Scotland.
